The Science Of Himalayan Salt Lamps

These lamps are said to emit negative ions that help you feel more relaxed and calm. These ions cancel out anxiety-inducing positive ions emitted by technology like cellphones, laptops, and televisions.

Ions are invisible molecules that we can’t perceive with any of your senses. We inhale these molecules, which eventually make their way into our bloodstream. in abundance in natural environments.

Negative ions are found in abundance in nature, especially near mountains, waterfalls, and beaches. These molecules increase levels of serotonin, a mood-altering chemical that fights depression, stress, and low energy.

According to WebMD, negative ions “are created in nature as air molecules break apart due to sunlight, radiation, and moving air and water.” (1).

Columbia University did a study on the effectiveness negative ion therapy studies of people with winter and chronic depression. They found that the molecules have antidepressant activity (2).

“The best part is that there are relatively no side effects, but we still need to figure out appropriate doses and which people it works best on,” says ion researcher Michael Terman, PhD, of Columbia University in New York.
